Kandis Williams’ show The Rivers Of Styxx is featured on Blouin Art Info.

Cooper Cole Gallery is currently presenting a solo exhibition by Kandis Williams, “The Rivers Of Styxx”, on view through December 9, 2018. The exhibition marks the artist’s first show at the gallery and features a collection of her latest artworks.

Kandis Williams is a Berlin-based artist whose work explores racial-nationalism, authority, and eroticism. Born in 1985 in Baltimore, USA, Kandis Williams received her B.F.A. in 2008 from the Cooper Union School of Art, New York. Her recent exhibitions include solo shows at Night Gallery, SADE, Los Angeles; 219 Madison, Brooklyn; St. Charles Projects, Baltimore, USA ; Works on Paper, Vienna, Austria; as well as a performance and workshop at Human Resources, Los Angeles. She was recently included in “A Woman’s Work,” a PopRally event at MoMA organized by Rachel Kaadzi Ghansah. Her work has also been exhibited at The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York; The Underground Museum, Los Angeles, USA; Neu West and 68 Projects, Berlin, Germany; and The Breeder, Athens, Greece, among other spaces. Williams has an active curatorial and writing practice, and runs Cassandra Press with artist Taylor Doran. Williams lives between Los Angeles and Berlin.

Since it’s conception Cooper Cole has always had a focus on existing as part of the global art dialogue. The gallery not only focuses on inviting international artists to exhibit in Toronto but also aims at promoting Canadian artists abroad through art fairs and partnerships with other galleries across the globe.

Some of the artists represented by the gallery include: Vikky Alexander, Bjorn Copeland, Sara Cwynar, Georgia Dickie, Kara Hamilton, Jesse Harris, Shawn Kuruneru, Tau Lewis, Vanessa Maltese and many others.

The exhibition will be on view through December 9, 2018, at Cooper Cole, 1134 Dupont St, Toronto, ON M6H 2A2, Canada.
