It Ain’t Conceptual

COOPER COLE is pleased to bring American artists Marissa Textor and Ryan Travis Christian together to present a new body of graphite drawings.

It Ain’t Conceptual.

Ryan Travis Christian creates scenes of monochromatic psychedelia with his graphite paper pieces. Christian’s images are constructed using abstract moments, comic elements, vintage cartoon iconography, and pop cultural references. He pairs his artistic practice with curatorial projects and has been featured in publications such as New American Paintings and Frieze Magazine. Christian lives and works outside of Chicago, USA.

Marissa Textor creates photorealistic graphite drawings which depict imagery based on geographic and organic sources. Reconstructing familiar images with her flawless technique, Textor manages to evoke an ominous sense of curiosity and an enigmatic understanding of the environment. She has exhibited her art across North America and has been featured in New American Paintings, Time Out, Lamono, and Esquire Magazine. Textor lives and works in Los Angeles, USA.
