Past, Present, Past-Present

COOPER COLE is pleased to present a solo exhibition from Canadian artist Tessar Lo.

In this exhibition titled, past, present, past-present, Lo will debut a new series of paintings and sculptures. His latest body of work emits an unique combination of hardship and relief, with an underlying theme of overcoming fears and adversity. He continues to explore basic tendencies and nature, culminating one’s knowledge of self, relative to our surroundings. Lo invites the viewer to get lost in the space between subconscious and conscious realities. The work is filled with totems marking specific moments in time as well as familiar landmarks. With heavy evidence of gestural movement, lo’s latest creations radiate energy with a sense of confidence and angst. Blending narrative archetypes as abstracted forms, lo creates a series that truly resonates with the human psyche.

Tessar Lo was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and has been living in Toronto, Canada since the age of four. A graduate of the Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Lo has exhibited extensively across the globe in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Miami, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Tokyo. Tessar Sebastian Lo currently lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
